Steven Carpenter is a classically trained professional actor, director and voice artist with over 30 years of experience. He currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director of the Washington Stage Guild. As an Equity actor, he has appeared at many of the DC area's theatres, including Shakespeare Theatre, Ford's, Round House Theatre, Signature, Rep Stage,Theater J, Constellation, 1st Stage, Baltimore and Virginia Shakespeare Festivals, and the Washington Stage Guild. His professional directing credits include work at Rep Stage, Theater J, Theater Alliance, 1st Stage and the Washington Stage Guild. He is one of only a handful of artists with Helen Hayes Award nominations in three different disciplines: acting (The Philanderer at WSG), directing (Thief River at Theatre Alliance), and sound design (It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at WSG).
