He came home to a war he could not win.

A story of love, betrayal and uncontrollable compulsions, William Shakespeare’s  tragedy unfolds against the backdrop of war in the Middle East and the struggles of veterans to cope with their traumas.

Members of an elite military unit are forced to confront the evil in their midst, as they grapple with a litany of recent horrors: a beloved general confesses to murder; a trusted aide is implicated in multiple deaths; and the entire community launches a highly unofficial inquest into what went wrong and why.

The only major Shakespearean tragedy that Avant Bard has never produced, the show features Acting Company members Chuck Young, Sara Barker, Frank Britton and Jay Hardee, in a psychological thriller staged in Arlington’s intimate Theatre on the Run.
