Unexpected Stage--the professional theater company that brought you Candy and Dorothy and The Dumb Waiter--returns to Randolph Road Theater this summer with The Lady in the Van.

The Lady in the Van is inspired by the unlikely, real-life relationship between acclaimed British playwright Alan Bennett and Miss Shepherd, a homeless eccentric who parked her van in Mr. Bennett’s garden and lived there for 15 years.  Alan Bennett’s plays have become modern-day classics, including The Madness of King George, which he adapted into an Oscar-nominated screenplay, and The History Boys, which won six Tony Awards including Best Play, among many other accolades.
