An ancient Greek drama by the playwright Euripides, a stunningly beautiful score by George Frideric Handel, and text from famed poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath are woven together to create the World Premiere staging of ALCESTE. An audaciously hopeful musical play about life, death, and the courage to believe in life after death – starring husband and wife KenYatta and Michelle Rogers, Maribeth Diggle as Hercules, and vocalists and instrumentalists specializing in the power and humanity of Handel’s Baroque music. The underground is unearthed with an opening weekend of performances in the Dupont Underground, with additional performances at Baltimore Theatre Project and GALA Hispanic Theatre.
