Mark Krawczyk is an innovative and purpose-driven theatre practitioner with over 20 years of experience in professional acting (AEA), devising, arts management, directing, and teaching. As a critically acclaimed actor he has worked with renowned theaters such as Utah Shakespeare Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre, Folger Theatre, Everyman Theatre, Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, The Hub Theatre of Boston, Constellation Theatre, Taffety Punk, Theater J, and others. He was also co-founder of the European based company Without Gas, which toured England, Slovakia, and Poland with adaptations of central European avant garde plays, as well as collaborated with the Edinburgh Fringe First Award winning company Highway Diner at The Traverse Theatre in Scotland on an original piece called 15 Minutes. Mark’s work has also extended into film and TV by appearing in numerous commercials, industrial films, and the Netflix series House of Cards. He’s had the privilege of teaching acting and other theatre classes at institutions such as the Community College of Baltimore County, Towson University, Southern Methodist University, George Washington Carver Center for Arts & Technology, Walnut Hill School for The Arts, Winsor School, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee where he was a member of the leadership team for the Contemporary Theatre program. Most recently he served as Director of Theatre for Girls Preparatory School (GPS) in Chattanooga, TN where he directed such shows as Much Ado About Nothing, Fiddler on The Roof, Antigone, The Sound of Music, Pride & Prejudice, Radium Girls, Mamma Mia!, and oversaw the creation of a new performance piece titled Seeds Waiting for Rain, based on the poetic writings of Chattanooga native Peggy Douglas. As an advocate for new works by young people he co-produced The 10 Minute Play Festival, a yearly coordinate event between GPS and McCallie School that put on 8 new plays every year by playwrights from those two communities. Mark’s next projects will be creating a new, original piece of solo theatre as part of with The Incubator Residency with Barking Legs Theatrein Chattanooga, as well as directing Scrooge: The Musical at Chattanooga Theatre Centre which performs December 2023. He is always searching for other opportunities to use theatre as a tool for raising awareness of various social issues, fostering change, and inspiring the next generation of artists and arts supporters.
