Engage the principles of SoulWork to explore what it means to be READY for the work of performance that inspires change-making experiences for audiences and with communities. SoulWork READY
Intensives offer foundational training for applying SoulWork to rehearsal, devising, community engagement and performance. READY participants will explore SoulWork Ethics, Cultural Conservatory Theory, and Principles of The Call, Living in Call and Response, and Unending Climax. 

Performers in SoulWork includes Performing Artists: Actors, Dancers, Singers, etc. AND Performance Practitioners: Includes Performance Artists, Devising/Generative Artists, Performance/Performed
Ethnography, Culture Workers, Storytellers, Performance Poets, Choreographers, Directors, etc.

Instructor: Dr. Cristal Chanelle Truscott
Rooted in Black performance traditions, Dr. Truscott’s SoulWork methodology centers ancestral knowledge and contemporary consciousness to nurture artists and culture workers through a culturally responsive studio practice that expands creative power. As a playwright/director, she creates a capella musicals, “NeoSpirituals,” that span and straddle time between histories and the present to envision
and encourage more just, equitable futures.
