Intro to Shakespeare Intensive with Nathan Whitmer (In Person)

Join Nathan Whitmer for an Introduction to Shakespeare Intensive. During this four hour intensive, Nathan will do a deep dive into the the basics of Shakespeare. This will include, introducing the actor on how to read and break down the text, select a Shakespearean piece for an audition, and ways the actor can approach preparing the piece.

Please come to this workshop with a Shakespeare monologue (does not have to be memorized) or with an idea of a potential piece to perform. This workshop will be geared towards actors who are newer to Shakespeare, but all are welcome and encouraged to join the workshop.

Nathan Whitmer is an actor (AEA), teaching artist, and acting coach. His DC stage credits include Arena Stage, Studio Theatre, Theatre J, and Washington Stage Guild. In his nearly 20 year acting career he has worked in Off Broadway in NYC and regionally around the country, notably as a member of Barter Theatre's resident acting company and Barter Players company. With Barter he acted in over 25 production and worked as a mentor and director. He has appeared in numerous local on-camera industrials and commercials and appeared on The Smithsonian Channel. A passionate teaching artist, Nathan has worked in the classroom with Shakespeare Theatre, The Theatre Lab, The Barter Players, Live Arts Charlottesville, Alaska Theatre for Youth, and others.
