Theatre Description
WIT is dedicated to unleashing the creative, collaborative power of improvisation in DC. As the District’s only nonprofit improv theater, we are guided by the belief that improv is for everyone. We aim to unleash the creativity of everyday Washingtonians through accessible classes and ground-breaking, audience-responsive performances.
Re-founded in 1998, we now serve thousands annually through 300+ performances, multi-level eight-week classes each quarter (enrolling 1,700+ annually), 4-6 free introductory workshops a month (reaching 1,300+ Washingtonians annually in every DC Ward), our workplace training program WIT@Work (3,000 trainees annually), and multiple community outreach efforts: after-school programming in DCPS, Sitar Arts Center, and Kingman Boys and Girls Club, classes for veterans, and workshops aimed at ESL participants.
