The Mark of Cain is a kind of distillation of human history, seen through the eyes of Cain, civilization’s first criminal. As he makes his bloody “mark” on all corners of the world, we see that evil, death, and murder are ever-present; that as wars have been fought continuously throughout time, we see that violence never truly disappears, but, like energy, simply changes forms and faces.
