Opening Performance
Jo March invites us into her memory and imagination in this musical retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel. Jo wants more than anything to be a world-renowned writer and has practiced her entire life by writing plays for her sisters in their attic in Concord, Massachusetts. To succeed as a writer, Jo has to be her authentic self, but the conventions of Victorian America and the strain of the Civil War on her mother and her three sisters present major challenges. Using just two pianos and ten actors, this production follows Jo’s journey to self-empowerment through love, loss, and loyalty in the face of great change.
