Puppets, dancers, and a 7-piece jazz band weave together Cab Calloway’s most famous songs to tell the story of a “frail” named Minnie the Moocher and her “hepcat” beau Smokey Joe. Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher is a tragic love story set amidst the sex, drugs, and Jazz of New York City in the 1920s. Minnie is an innocent girl, ignorant of the ways of the world, but when she falls in love with the swinging hepcat Smokey Joe, she finds herself drawn into a sensual jazz lifestyle full of glamour, music, and temptation. Inspired by Cab Calloway's legendary music, the art of the 1920s, and the cautionary drug exploitation films of the 1930s, Minnie the Moocher is a show unlike anything DC's ever seen.
