Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange

Performance Dates

Anthony Burgess' play with music is based on his provocative 1962 novella of the same name. In a dystopian future, the story is centered on Alex and his gang of "droogs". The teens spend their evenings at the Korova Milk Bar and out committing "a little bit of the old ultraviolence" on unsuspecting victims. When a drug-fueled night of fun ends in murder, Alex is busted and sent to prison. He is given a choice-be brainwashed into good citizenship and set free, or face a lifetime inside. Set to the music of Beethoven, Burgess’ play with music explores the nature of humans and the issue of free will to choose between right and wrong.
