Use your improv and acting skills to present medical conditions to a team of medical students who then must use their training for the diagnosis. The work can be steady, the pay pretty good. But what's really involved? Is it something you'd be comfortable doing? And, if so, where do you sign up?

This is for all AC members, regardless of specialty or experience, aged 18+.

Note: This is a presentation, not a demonstration. Carol will provide details about Standardized Patient work so that you can decide if this is a field you'd like to pursue. Each participant will receive a list of contacts at all the area medical schools.

Carol Randolph has worked as a Standardized Patient at several area med schools, primarily Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Silver Spring, since 2007. She also has nine years' experience as a Physical Exam Teaching Associate (PETA) at USUHS. Carol's acting credits include performances at Olney Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Co., 1st Stage, Chesapeake Shakespeare Co., and Maryland Ensemble Theatre - in addition to film and commercial work.

Cancellation Policy: It is expected that if you sign up to take a workshop that you will be present at that event. If you register for a workshop series, it is expected you will be present for all days in that workshop series.

Please be aware that if there is a cancellation less than 24 hours before the start of class no refunds will be issued.

Please contact the AC at staff@actorscenter.org if canceling due to illness or another situation arises. We are happy to work with individuals on a case by case basis.
