This symposium explores how we can use our voices as artists, arts lovers, and arts leaders to support the policies, priorities, and financial support they need to thrive.

1pm
Training for Theatre Leaders and Board Members
Will Gartshore, Senior Director, Policy and Government Affairs, World Wildlife Fund and Deb Gottesman, Co-Executive Director, Theatre Lab will offer a practical introduction for board and senior leadership to advocating for the value and impact of our region’s theatre community. Participants will learn how to talk effectively about the role theatre plays in our communities, how to build relationships with civic and community leaders, and how to leverage your own networks and voices to strengthen support for the field.

3:30pm
A Conversation with Area Policymakers
Moderated by Paige Hernandez, Chair of the Maryland State Arts Council, the panel brings together DC-area policymakers and civic leaders for a candid conversation about the issues shaping our region and its theatre community.
