A play ahead of its time, Diana of Dobson's tells the story of a young woman, Diana, working in an Edwardian department store. Underpaid, unappreciated, and caught in a cycle of poverty, Diana's life changes when she receives a sizable inheritance. Throwing caution to the wind, Diana chooses to see how the other half lives. She spends her money on one lavish vacation, knowing all too well, the money will eventually run out.
Written by Suffragette and activist Cecily Hamilton, Diana of Dobson's is a romantic comedy that joins the rank of feminist work for its incisive critiques of health and work conditions, gender inequality, homelessness, and marriage.
