Riot Grrrls: The Trojan Women

Smoke still rising from a final night of pillage, and annihilation wrought upon them by the Greeks, the survivors of Troy gather to make sense of the senseless. They plead for answers—from the gods, from their dead loved ones, and from each other. An intermediary who speaks on behalf of the Greeks brings them news of their fates, which seem to grow bleaker with each passing moment. Then there is the matter of facing Helen—the woman among them who is blamed for the destruction. In a complicated struggle of identity, loss, jealousy, and vengeance, the victims of Troy claim all that is left of them, their voices.
