CulturalDC announced plans for their 10th Anniversary of the Source Festival. The 2017 Festival is a celebration of some the best plays debuted at the Festival over the last decade and runs June 9–July 2, 2017. Playwrights are invited to submit 10-Min scripts specifically related to COVERT CATALYSTS, a theme derived from PERFECT ARRANGEMENT, a hot from 2013 that will receive a new production. Seeking plays that examine an instant of revolution (on a macro or micro level) in an unexpected way. Submission deadline - Jan 6, 2017 (5PM EST). The six 10-Minute Plays chosen for production will be announced in March. For submission instructions and eligibility guidelines, visit the Source Festival website.

GALA Hispanic Theatre will present their Paso Nuevo Youth Program winter show Aliens: Our Story of the Human Race, an original work about what makes us human to be staged at GALA's theatre on Friday, January 13 at 8pm. This is a FREE event recommended for all ages.

Teatro de la Luna will present their Bilingual Children's Theatre Festival on January 14 to kick off 2017. The event is from 11am-5pm; six hours of continuous theatre, magic, dance, music and other activities, including the bilingual play APRENDIENDO JUNTOS / DROP IN, NOT OUT.

Rorschach Theatre returns with their annual Klecksography, this one subtitled A VERY PAGAN CHRISTMAS. Created by more than three dozen theatre artists, the show’s seven stories – about holiday celebrations and their pagan beginnings - are all written and staged during a one-week process.Performances Sat, December 10 ONLY with four showings (7pm, 7:45pm, 8:30pm, 9:15pm; shows are 90 minutes and overlap) at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. Food & Friends is this year’s recipient of the Ford’s Theatre A Christmas Carol annual collection drive. The cast begins collecting donations of behalf of the Washington non-profit at the first performance November 17. Since 2009, the company of A Christmas Carol has raised more than $550,000 for Washington-area charities.
