Shakespeare’s chaos unfolds on a futuristic battleground of faith and mystery in a retelling of Orson Welles’ sensational 1936 production for the Federal Theatre Project.

Arguably the best remembered and most sensational of Federal Theater Project’s theatrical productions, the so-called “Voodoo MacBeth “ was a reimagining of the play using the imagery and traditions of Voodoo. The only record of what took place on stage are contemporary descriptions and Welles’ notated script of the Shakespeare. Director Kathleen Akerley takes her battalion of Christian marines is stationed in Scotland, circa 2033 A.D., where, after eleven years of fighting, foreign culture has seeped into their day-to-day practices of faith and war.
