TheatreWashington spearheaded an effort in Spring 2011 to oppose a tax on tickets for arts events in DC.

According theatreWashington President and CEO Linda Levy Grossman, who lobbied the DC City Council, the tax would have adversely affected the city’s 45 professional theater companies.

theatreWashington drafted a letter to Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown opposing the proposed tax, which the council ultimately deleted from the FY 2012 budget.
