Bhavi the Avenger

Bhavi the Avenger follows the journey of a boy haunted by a slain elephant who demands revenge for her death. Moving him between dream and substance, the elephant befriends Bhavi as he struggles to understand his unique call to action and his tenuous connection to this heritage. As Bhavi grows from boy to man, he wrestles with his quest and his culture, he assumes a new name in the hopes that he may shift away from fantasy and move up in a world dominated by cowboys in corporate suits. Through parable and poetic imagery, Bhavi the Avenger explores the clashes that confront the “model minority” and questions the issues that surround the embrace or denial of one’s heritage.
